I would just LOVE a story that featured Scootaling, Sweetie Bot and Apple Blank together as the Cutie Monster Crusaders.

Those are very valid reasons for why the headcanon is so enjoyable.
 
Scootaling is interesting, but I think I prefer when the other Crusaders also have dark secrets, like Sweetie Bot and Appleblank.

It could be because Bon Bon has had a different voice every time she’s had a minor speaking role, or the fact that as a Background Pony, she’s appeared in duplicate on several occasions. It could be because she seems so guarded and suspicious of other ponies getting too close to her or trying to trick her. It could also be because she seems so achingly normal when compared to her oftentimes companion and fanon marefriend Lyra, so much so that that normalcy almost seems like an act.
 
Whatever the reason, Bonbonling is also one of my favorite pieces of headcanon, because it just seems to slot into the makeup of her character so well and explain a few of her puzzles in a really fun way without disrupting or upsetting her relationships with Ponyville in general or Lyra in particular. Really, it makes her relationships with both quite a bit more interesting and dynamic, as stories like ““Mendacity,[](http://www.fimfiction.net/story/26192/mendacity) ““A Change of Face,[](http://www.fimfiction.net/story/24388/a-change-of-face) and ““Bonafide[](http://www.fimfiction.net/story/160162/bonafide) show.
 
A Scootaling is good too.

I still can’t figure out why this works so well. Nevertheless, Bonbonling is still one of my favorite headcanons.

Mendacity is the best!

I love everything about the idea that Bon Bon is a changeling. There have been a number of great pieces of fanfiction written on the premise, the very best in my opinion being “Mendacity by Dromicosuchus. I highly recommend giving it a read!

I always imagined that it was Cheerilee who was the changeling in hiding.

All I know about this was that it used an exploit to hit the featured box when it came out.

If you have to keep reminding yourself you aren’t really Bonbon, you might as well be her.

This is what happens when you go undercover for too long, you start feeling guilty for what you’re doing and the lies you have to tell to tell.

Who is that girl I see,  
Staring straight back at me?  
Why is my reflection someone I don’t know?

/ The latter in this case, this is the ilisstration to a story.

or a Changeling that has always been Bonbon and actually considers Lyra a friend?
