I can tell you that the two comments you found were pretty much the only two comments I ever wrote in that tone. I don’t know, it was just a spontanous reaction when I saw those images. (after seeing the episode).

Actually, I agree with you; despite what I said on the other image, I would actually complain more if any pairings, even the ships I like, were made canon. It’s fun to imagine and stuff, but as you said, this is all fanon, and has no real place in canon.
 
That being said, though, you seem rather… zealous? Confrontational? In trying to rub in this apparent ‘loss,’ so I hope you’ll forgive me for assuming you were trying to start a fight.

Truth is, I couldn’t care less about this whole shipping addiction in this fandom. But I find it ridiculous how some guys try to force their ideas onto everyone and everything. This is a good example.

It’s a bad thing because, as much as some of us wish it were true, we are not the only audience for this show. Despite the large adult fanbase, this is still My Little Pony, and it will still be watched by many young girls and their sometimes-overprotective mothers and fathers.
 
We all fangasmed when Derpy became canon in “The Last Roundup”, and we all know how well that turned out. It’d be the same situation if “Simple Ways” had obvious shipping between Rarity and Applejack. The way to go is subtle nods and winks to the fandom, like “Maybe things are better when they’re a Rarity”.

While I’m a big supporter of the Rarijack ship, I really hope “Simple Ways” isn’t a “Rarijack” episode. If it’s really subtle, great! But I will groan and facepalm if they start lustily looking each other in the eyes, brushing each other’s manes, or something like that.
 
Blatant pandering to the fanbase is a bad thing. Little things go over much better.

It starts out with Rarity and Applejack switching places to see if they can do eachothers’ jobs but halfway through Rarity gets attacked by a giant octopus and Applejack is just like WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING
