Like, I went and tagged Meadow Song just now and I could probably name most his major appearances & fanon, but not every artist is as big a nerd as me.
 
I could turn it right back at ya and say why yes, those obscure bg ponies DO have fanon, how come YOU don’t know about them? maybe you don’t care as much as you say?

I disagree, I’ve seen fans of quite a few obscure characters, as I said. Honestly, I’ve never seen a fanbase give as much love to background/bit characters as much as the MLP/brony fanbase. (And that’s one of the reasons I like it personally.)
 
It’s actually kinda funny to see people now arguing over some being “overrated.”

Something that annoys me about this fanbase too.

“There sure were a lot of appearances by background ponies in today’s episode”  
I wonder why. Maybe to fill in the backgrounds so there aren’t just eight characters on screen.  
You neglect the background background characters, the mares and stallions who have no hope of ever gaining a major fan base. Maybe they star in one or two pieces of art of fanfiction, but they are always forgotten behind Lyra and Bon Bon. Remember the less fortunate!

Actually, they said for season 4 it was intentional, to make Derpy’s reappearance in “Rainbow Falls” more surprising. So they intentionally left her out of the first 8 or 9 episodes.

There was no reason to not show Derpy in the first half of the season then suddenly start adding her all over the place in the latter half. If she was greenlit to appear she should have done so from the beginning, it’s not like it was decided when half the season was already done.

Surprised DJ PON-3 didn’t appear, but sense she seems to appear only once a season, they might be saving her for another ep’.

yea up to now, s4 has been missing that flare that other season have been missing. It must of been because the episodes have been secluded to the point it started to fell this wasn’t are real world anymore.
