Yup. All of this. It’s about being there for someone, and Pinkie would be just the pony to do that.

Speaking as one who has lost many over the years…friends…family…there is nothing that makes death “better”.

But…every single time, I remember the friends who have stood by me and have been there for me when I was suffering the most.

Everyone handles death differently. I think it’s important to celebrate the person’s live rather than mourn their loss. Everyone who’s ever done this says it really helps. Do something that would make the deceased proud.

This video, Goodbye, My Friend makes me emotional every time. I could see Pinkie doing just this for a terminally ill friend.

I’ve lost all my grandparents. There’s really no way to make you feel good about their loss, but Laughter is more than just giggles- it’s about empathy and hope and cherishing good memories. It only make sense to me that Pinkie would attempt to establish that connection with someone who faced such a loss.

Speaking as someone who’s lost all of his grandparents (due to old age; I’m an old fart), there’s not really any way to make someone feel good when dealing with that loss, but those speculative lines for Pinkie Pie would help a little in that they would establish she cared and could empathize.

My grandmother let me set off fireworks in her apartment, bought me twenty goldfish when my mother said I could buy two, and introduced me to the world of gambling. I’m not entirely sure what to call her lessons, but they’ll definitely stick with me.

“Yeah, mine died, too. It made me real sad until I realized that as long as I remembered her and the lessons she taught me, she’d always be with me.”

Well, at least she didn’t sing and dance through a funeral like Sweetie Belle.

…shouldn’t you ask the writers that?

Seriously though, even the most sensitive and tactful of people have trouble comforting somebody when something as touchy as DEATH rears its ugly head; so how can you expect a pony who, though well intentioned, has demonstrated time and again her lack of sensitivity and tact to bring ANY form of comfort to a mourner?

Oh, him. She obviously drive him to insanity, where he is delusioned that he is with his jennetfriend and happy…
On serious side, you heard about character development?

“Well, at least she didn’t die twice!”
“At least not everybody’s grandma is dead!”
“She was old, she was probably a racist anyway!”
“Well, at least she missed the next big, international tragedy, whatever it’s gonna be!”
“You wanna borrow my friend Applejack’s grandma? I know somebody who can forge family histories so you can bluff you’re related to her.”
