Now I’m getting this weird mental image there’s a dumpster filled with a dozen more of Rarity’s boyfriend shrines.
I had no idea the concept of beta-ness had fallen so out of favor.
Sounds about right to me.
The sentiments between calling someone a “beta” and calling someone a “mangina” aren’t too far apart…Equally as chauvinistic and childish.
I see it passed around as MRAs being “beta,” and people against them as “alpha.”
“Mangina” is actually something I’ve heard MRAs call feminist males. Maybe I just have seen a weird crowd.
(And look who his mom is; when he grows up he’ll have a plotload of status.)
When vitrually every MRA I’ve argued with uses terms like “beta” and “mangina” as a some kind of trump card, that’s a bit hard to believe.
Spike’s seen enough of Rarity’s ludicrous crushes on stallions to know they’re not serious. Little guy is NOT feeling threatened here.
Strangely enough, this is anti-MRA behavior here.
But the whole “beta male” thing does not really exist. It’s taking an outdated idea about how wolf packs work, and misapplying it to human interaction. It’s bullshit.
Despite being humans, we’re still animals specially when it comes to reproduction (aka sex), here we are still driven by natural impulses.
Regarding Spike, he is pretty much a beta male: submissive, weak, always doing what the girls tell him to do and so far he never challenges Twilight or the rest of the manes.
It’s not really true of wolves, either. In the wild, a typical wolf pack is actually more of an extended family.

I’m sure there are plenty of ‘alphas’ in Equestria, we probably just don’t see them onscreen that often, since little girls love, well, girls. Also, I hate the words ‘alpha’ and ‘beta’, they seem almost insulting to humans in general.
The only alphas in this show are Garble(who is a dick) and maybe Sombra(who is a dead dick).
Alpha-ness is this show is a handicap.
