Yeah. That inflating head gag was the only really misplaced and “odd” feeling one, imho. I say this as someone who really loves Pinkie Pie.
 
I saw The Hub spoiler. I was wondering how the gag would be delivered. It could have been a better gag if there was a better set-up, I think.

ah, yes, of course. everything in the show is absolutely perfect, and anyone who complains about anything is OBVIOUSLY just a “precious jaded teenager” that is looking for something to complain about just because they want to complain about something. No real opinions, just “whiners”.
 
Totally not a completely ignorant way of dismissing other peoples’ opinions, nope, not at all.

I really liked Pinkie back in S1/S2, but now she’s repeatedly being used as nothing but “LOLRANDUMB” styled comic relief, bringing scenes to a grinding halt just to scream and shout and act random and crazy, in ways that are very noticeably more crazy and random than in S1/S2.

Dash’s expression is hilarious.
 
Don’t wanna get involved in comment drama, but I think that maybe the reason Pinkie has seemed ‘off’ to some people is probably partially due to the fact that there are new writers who are still finding their groove. New writers, like Josh, may write her a little bit too much over-the-top occasionally, but I think he’ll get better and better. If you look at Pinkie in previous episodes though, I don’t think she’s really changed. I loved how her ‘prideful’ side was showing through at the beginning of the episode.
 
Also, I think that with all the drama caused by EG, Twilicorn, etc, most people have just been a bit on-edge and nervous about the future of the characters and the show, which is very understandable, but creates tension. Because of EG and all that ‘Brad’ stuff, I was a bit nervous as to how they would handle a romance-themed episode, but I think they did it brilliantly, and it stayed true to the spirit of the show.

I’m sorry, I can’t really see how that differentiates from a multitude of scenes from seasons 1/2 where she’d just break out into a random song or sneeze confetti, etc.
 
If you’re somebody who’s never liked Pinkie form the beginning, then whatever. But for everyone saying she’s “DRASTICALLY CHANGED FOR THE WORSE”, I completely fail to see your point.
 
Try watching some recent seasons of Spongebob for some REAL flanderization.

Yes, she was random “since the beginning of the show”, but nowhere near the level of randomness that she showed in S3/S4.
 
It’s that plus the fact that she often brings scenes to a grinding halt just to be random and crazy, like this scene. It serves no purpose to the story, doesn’t add anything, it’s just “LOL LOOK AT PINKIE SHE’S BEING RANDOM AND CRAZY XDDDDDDDD”.

Everyone complains about Pinkie and yet none of the characters show their “best” traits when they’re not the focus. Yet Pinkie’s the one who gets crap for being random when she’s always been random since the beginning of the show.
 
She’s not even being idiotic here. Just excitable and bubbly.  
Not like that will stop people from ragging on Pinkie any chance they get.

Inside of her own episodes, she’s great. Outside of those episodes, she’s a walking joke machine that just screams and does random crap solely for comic relief, even if it means bringing the scene to a halt just to show her being crazy and random.

Why we need episodes like “Pinkie Apple Pie” and “Pinkie Pride” to show that she’s not just “LOL! Random!”. Even if that is 90% of her characterization now.
