And just to clarify, this particular scarf is sports related, since it was made by the guys at 4chan’s /mlp/ before the 2014 4chan Winter Cup (a Pro Evolution Soccer tournament played between 4chan’s boards) began. And they basically sent one of these scarves to Lauren.
Ah, thank you. So its a sports thing, that explains why it made no sense to me as I never do anything sports related. I’ve always considered scarves as being for dealing with the cold having grown up in the midwest US.
Football hooligans at football stadiums cover their faces (when igniting pyrotechnics for example) so the cameras won’t record their face and they can’t be identified by the police.
Otherwise why would you be covering your face like that with a scarf at a stadium? Unless it’s freezing cold of course, that’s the only other reason I see for covering your face like that.
Anyway - where I live it’s illegal to cover your face at a stadium (since you can’t be identified if you cause trouble).

I think the idea is that some people are gonna notice a 4chan logo on a scarf that Lauren owns, and their sphincters are gonna slam shut so hard you’ll need to violate Geneva Convention CCW to get ’em open again.
