Valued points, Thanks.
While I don’t want to start a religious debate, (I think we oughtta wrap this up) I don’t think that verse meant money literally is “evil,” I think it means greedy people tend to use it to justify their wrong actions, or use it as their prime motivation to do wrong. It’s warning you not to let “money” influence you to much to do wrong.
It’s ok to earn/have money, or even be “rich,” (heck alot of rich people donate to charity, and help people) just don’t do bad things to obtain it, (Like stealing, and such) or “love” it to much…
As long as they are not hurting anything or anyone in real life with what arouses them, you have no grounds to give them a hard time for it.
I’d add more but it’s 9:30 PM and I’m tired and i realize my brain isn’t functioning as it would after enough sleep.
I don’t either - Just that some of the means of acquiring it, Are not worth doing.
Money basically comes down do bartering one’s time spent and perceived value of that time spent. I see nothing /inherently/ wrong with money.
Thanks for reminding me of that. It’s really the Greed of money, Not the use of it? Wait a minute, Why did the back of my head feel hot? I was going to say there’s the Bible verse saying “The love of money is the root of many/all evil” But does that verse actually mean the Lust of it? Money in its purest form is merely a means of exchange, Yes? Such as bartering an orange for an apricot.
Yeah, Jesus didn’t hate people, just the bad things they did.
Also, some Christians wrongfully take that line about “money VS God” to far, and think making any money, being rich, or a successful business person automatically make you “bad,” and such. Which isn’t the case.
It’s talking about “greed.” You can like making money, and working for it, just don’t get greedy, and nasty.
I read that Jesus rebuked the Pharisees (Religious leaders of the time) a lot, I interpret it in such a way as he hated what they were doing but didn’t hate them. It also reads in the Bible something like “You cannot worship both God and Money.” (At the same time.) Still, Is it a bit off to judge without knowing the whole story?
@PonyCat
I’m not saying you don’t. Does anyone who care, Care regardless of what language they speak?
And I wonder if there are books missing from the common Bible or not.
@BarryFromMars
I wonder if Jesus was also refering to those “all-mighty-dollar”-worshipping preachers on TV. My Dad (a major Christian) got angry, and cussed-one out the TV, when one said something like if you don’t send him money, you’re “robbing God.”
Well that’s fine if you think that way, just remember there are people like me without religion that care just as much as any human being.
You talking about the people talking about chastity?
“Anyone can show kindness and understanding of others with or with out religious ideals.”
You know what, I think I should be careful and ask questions and find the truth and live it, Because I was feeling rather odd just a moment ago with what I was going to post. There’s something in the New Testament saying “There’s one teacher, The rest of you are learners.” And really if I were to say something wrong thinking it’s true then that’s just wrong.
Yes, good place ^^
Yes, but soo many seem to think people can’t and then end up thinking they’re superior due to their religion.
That’s a good note to end this on.
Right?
