There goes the baker with his tray, like always
The same old bread and rolls to sell
Every morning just the same
Since the morning that we came
To this poor, provincial town

Hrm. Well, it is certainly fair to say it get exaggerated in fanworks, cuz’, y’know, it’s funny. But it’s not like it’s arbitrarily decided on by the fandom with no support in the canon. I guess that’s the kind of thing I tend to think that “fanon” means.
That’s not really fair of me, though. You’re not wrong with your original statement.

Little town, it’s a quiet village
Ev’ry day like the one before
Little town, full of little people
waking up to say…
