Some energy drinks can have that effect if you’re short on sleep, that’s because they stimulate your whole brain, including your sleep center. It’s similar to how Ritalin causes people who are hyperactive to calm down by stimulating the calming center of their brains.  
It’s the main reason energy drinks can’t be used as a substitute for sleep (I call that a ‘backfire’ when that happens).

Yeah I’ve heard people fall asleep later in the day after having one of those.  
There was actually a comic on Pinkie drinking a can of it and falling asleep straight afterwords.  
By the way, try the blue one next time. It tastes a lot better IMO. I don’t have them so often due to how horrible they are for you.

I actually tried a Monster recently for the first time. Really didn’t make me feel as energetic or awake as people hyped it up to be. Was already yawning again in about an hour. Actually tasted pretty good though (I had the green one, forgot the name of the flavor).
