Speaking as one who used to be very shy long ago, I’d often find myself being bullied, and it was the very last thing I wanted.

For those who get picked on a lot, much of it is not knowing how to stand up for oneself. Instead of lashing out, some people draw themselves in. Bullies love targets that won’t fight back. Some people mistake “not fighting back” for “liking it”, which isn’t always true.

Sometimes it’s due to adopting unhealthy ways of thinking, like “hurting others is always bad”. No matter how how small it may be, some fear that speaking up for oneself might make someone else feel bad. Never mind that NOT speaking up results in more bad feelings.

Part of it also could be thinking that one’s own opinions are worthless, and only others have “important” opinions.

It can also be that the person feels that constantly feeling wronged is better than actually fighting about it.

Man…I could keep going. Yeah, it can get pretty messed up pretty quickly, but just because someone doesn’t speak up or fight back doesn’t mean they’re okay with it, or that they like it. It’s mostly a question of courage.

That was one time I wanted to see Hasenpfeffer introduced into the show with Angel missing.

Angel!
You do not draw attention to Fluttershy’s stammer, that’s very insensitive!
