@Solitude Yep. Also slightly inaccurate against faster target because tracking is kinda ass. This way, you find a bunch of aircraft or fast k-bots, vortex’em so they keep running into the vortex while they swirl, then when it ends, multiple missile impact.

It’d solve the Merl/Diplomat’s biggest drawback, that they and their missiles tend to be a bit slow, if I remember right. Haven’t played TA in years, myself. Can’t go wrong with spamming Peewees and Flashes, anyway.

@Solitude Well, it’s been about a year since my last serious game so I don’t recall the stats, but I remember a direct Merl shot, infrequent as it may be, had one hell of a hurt. So if you focus-fire (which seems to guarantee better accuracy in those old games, like how micro-heavy players would abuse focus on C&C mammoths to spam missiles) upon a vortex, timed for when it opens back up, yeah, a fleet of those would work wonders on units freshly emerged from a vortex. Decent support unit if you draw things into the killzone, especially tier 1 k-bots.  
I kinda wish TA had a mod that gave you research requirements for heavier units since a lot of battles can become spamfests and counter-spamfests easily without warning.

Especially if you used a jammer/cloaker combo to get close enough to drop that in their main base. Everything is stalled, merl/punisher bombardment fires, vortex releases. “Whooooa, headspinny, wtf is goin’ o-IIIINCOMING boomboomboom  
Not as big a range as a nukespam but probably more overall damage at the epicenter.
