The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Thay’re messing with HS? But… cool gimmicks are the bread and butter of card games.
Unless their definnition of “core gamer” is someone not willing to adapt to new tactics and decks that is.

Also maybe by “core gamer” they meant the intended demographic… and said demographic would probably be causuals who don’t care about the newest deck builds and tactics… aaaand they get their arses handed to them constantly by those who do and build silly unstoppable decks.

Yea TB talked about that in his alpha video. He shares your concern that if Blizzard forces the pro-scene all it will do is ruin the whole “casual” experience they’re going for.

They’re already doing that with Hearthstone…altering some of the cool gimmicks and crazy shit you can do because it’s scaring off “core gamers”.

What even is a core gamer? I’ve been playing games since back when you could count the pixels on the screen. Pretty sure I’d be labeled a “core gamer” and I love some casual stuff here and there.

Having a cutesey style and simplefied mecanics didn’t save LoL from the eventual onslaught of tryhard ragers and i doubt HOTS will be any different.
Especially if blizz goes all in and starts baiting Pro players in by starting tournaments and crap.

Hopefully the core MOBA players are too turned off by the decreased difficulty. Their elitism may save the game from their horrid influence.

Well i sounds reasonable and i guess it might work then.
Altho i’m still quite sure there will be entitled assholes prowling around looking for people making mistakes or not guessing properly what he wants them to do so they can rage the entire game like the pro players they are.
That’s just the way MOBA players work.

They’ve mitigated it slightly. The team level system means that there’s less individual responsibility, and the flexible character rolls means you’re not locked into a single roll that if you fuck up, your team gets pissed.

It sort of de-fangs the cobra a little bit with rabid fans not being able to directly blame a single player directly for the failure of the team.

That’s a nice and impossible statement.
The annoying part of the genre is the (always) elitist playerbase who constantly rages in every other game at the lowest scoring player on their team.
So unless HOTS is singleplayer only it can’t get rid of that.
Or they might be trying to emulate LoL with their more accesible gameplay but STILL terrible playerbase.

TB describe HOTS as basically a MOBA-lite. All the fun of a MOBA without the teeth clenching annoyance that the genre can bring, but at the cost of being at a much lower difficulty.
