It’s actually more common for people to remember their dreams when they’re nightmares then to have good dreams. Also maybe her job as the Night Mare is to tend and help those who are suffering from night terrors.

No, fear helps you hurt people. It doesn’t help teach people things they already know. People just say it does, because “tough love” is a convenient excuse for bullies who don’t have any love in their intentions and don’t care enough to think about their actions. And when it inevitably fails, they just say the victim “couldn’t take it”.
