It’s for variety’s sake. The reason they have the same body type on the show is to make making the toys easier on Hasbro’s wallet.

AJ in a skirt and Rarity (as well as everyone else) in pants, I dunno what to think of that.
 
Like Psychopomf said below, the skirt could have easily gone to Fluttershy, but pants make more sense for her if one is familiar with her line of work (i.e. running around tending to wildlife) Hell, I think a skirt would make more sense for Twilight or Pinkie than Flutter.
 
Like others said below, it’s kinda funny that Dash is the tallest of the group when she is normally the shrimpiest. Of course, I never got making humanizations different sizes when they’re all the same damn size in the source material.

I love the human Dash here. Wish we see more like it.

I hate that stereotype of AJ. Working on a farm doesn’t magically make you tall, or even buff. There are jobs equally as touch that doesn’t get ladled with that body stereotype. AJ should NOT be treated as a female Big Mac! She’s not.
 
On the other hand Dash must have a body to pull off being captain of all the sports teams in another world. The idea that she must be a midget just because of her ego is stupid.

This Pinkie is near perfect body type.

I think it’s her usually being beat out by the ideas of Applejack being a big farm girl, Rarity having a stature to match her strong personality, and Fluttershy having been a tall filly combined with how she’d be all “Please don’t look at me” with being tall.
 
In a way, Rainbow Dash just gets overshadowed.

Actually, why don’t we see more group humanization pics with Dash being amongst the tallest? After all, it makes sense for the speedy one to have long legs. Right?

I do like the designs on these ones. Though its not often you see Rainbow Dash as the tallest. Or even among the taller. In fact, she’s usually the shortest.
 
I think that might have something to do with her being ‘aerodynamic’ as well as making some of her pride compensating.
 
Looks like Applejack switched clothes with Fluttershy. Though I could see Fluttershy having some more ‘sturdy’ clothing for working with animals and such.
