ah, to heck with it.
(Volunteers for an upgrade)
(In my opinion, the old Cybermen sounded like William Shatner on Autotune.)
There is one in the Brilliant book 2012.
I’ll grant you that I don’t have any good explanation as to how those guys could have survived, but it wouldn’t be the first time Doctor Who villains return from certain demise.
@The Floor Kippers
I was looking for some definitive statement like that (and I know I’ve heard that before), do you have a link?
Given that the Cyberships from “A good man goes to war” are The same as those from”The Invasion” It is not unreasonable to assume that they belonged to Mondasian Cybermen, said ships also appear in The Pandorica opens.
According to Steven Moffat, the Cybermen seen in the Pandorica Opens are the Mondas/Telos Cybermen not seen since 1988. The Cybus logo on the chests are only there as there was no budget to redo the Cyberman costumes.
They where yes, but NOTHING can survive in the Time Vortex except creatures that evolved in them like a Vortisaur
Weren’t they all dragged into the Vortex?
ALL Cybermen in The Next Doctor were destroyed so it’s impossible for them meet Mondasian Cybermen because there DEAD.
“My theory is the Cybus Cybermen were sent to Victorian days and zapped off into time and space at the end of “The Next Doctor”. They met a bunch of the Mondasian/Telosian Cybermen, and there was some cross-breeding and interchange of technology, which is why you then get the ones that look like, but actually aren’t, the Cybus Cybermen.”
In a sense, both sides are at least partially correct.
Were you perhaps referring, not so much about the Cyberman from that Ep: Nightmare in Silver.
But, to the Cybermats themselves that may (or may not have been), from Mondas?
Ok I almost could forgive you that… Had the Show not actually and, so totally reconed the old-school Cybermen, as they had. As far as I’m concerned those were Cybus-Men from Earth.
Cybus Cybermen don’t use “Breathers”, and so could care less about Gold. Or remind me again how 10 & 11 defeated ’em with AU 79 again?
Sorry I’m calling bullshit on that too! Or in other Words… [CITATION NEEDED]
Bullshit. they just removed the Cybus emblem. They are not Mondasian.
Actually they were, all Cybermen Post Pandorica are Mondasian.
Thanks for the confirmation!
They are not Mondasian Cybermen… they are modified Cybus Cybermen.. All “Cybermen” past 2005 are Cybus and not the actual and original Cybermen.
Nightmare In Silver (one of the better episodes of New Who, IMHO, and I don’t even like most of 11’s stuff) has the Mondasian Cybermen still be vulnerable to gold, but that’s also the episode where it’s revealed that they can adapt to survive practically anything, which quickly renders it irrelevant.
Didn’t that bit get retconed in Nu-Who?
Then again… Nu-Who Cybermen were created on (in) a parallel universe Earth too. So that might also explain why AU 79 doesn’t effect them as much.
But, unlike Old… And, IMHO better Who. The Cybermen at were at least give the cheesy catchphrase “You’ll be deleted!”. Which sucks to no end so I had to go with the StarTrek ripoff men the Borg instead…
It’s the right thing to do.
