To me, Twilight is more of a duchess, countess, or a governor than a princess. Her new castle is more of a over the top, literally, manor than a full fledged castle/palace.

I kinda hoped to see Twilight freak out a little more at the end of S3 when she became a princess. Instead, she has a mini moment, asking about a book, and then gets over it. We soon see Neo-Twilight flying towards the screen.
 
Right now there’s little to go on as far as the tree getting blown up. We just know it happens. Does this happen because the villain senses the box in the treehouse and tries to destroy it? * shrug *
 
I’ll be blunt and say this looks like a crystal kingdom 2.0 attempt with a crystal treehouse, probably in the center of the town.
 
With all of that said, I am 100% with you that I want to see Twilight in character that I’ve seen in S1 and S2.
 
The worst, possible, thing to happen, imho, would be some garbage from the commercials where Twilight says “Come fly with me to my castle.”
 
 
O well, every princess needs their castle I guess. With Celestia having Good Sombra in that comic book and Cadence having Shining Armor, I’m just waiting for a second Royal Wedding. Twilight Immortality will come later.

You think Equestria has a ton of castles. Look at Germany, UK, and France.

The castle in general is a pretty bad idea regardless of where it is.
