This. Just…this.
To be fair, in ‘A Friend In Deed,’ it’s clear that Pinkie’s heart is in the right place, at least. She’s just trying to do whatever she can to make friends with Cranky, despite his constant rejection.
Pinkie’s behavior in ‘Filli Vanilli’ completely goes against her earlier acknowledgment of Fluttershy’s sensitivity, in ‘Griffon the Brush-Off.’ I’ve seen many people defend Pinkie’s actions, by claiming that we’re just butthurt because we’re overly defensive of Fluttershy. That may be true, but my MAIN problem with that episode is that Pinkie was out-of-character, PERIOD.
*but this scene
Which is really off-putting given her past writing of Pinkie. There was that toupee thing, sure, but that scene not only went overboard but repeated itself.
The mid-season Flutterslump and the scale of its acceptance nearly broke the entire show for me.
Agreed. If Pinkie actually shown some remorse about her actions, as well as a LOT more restraint, then I wouldn’t have had as much of a problem with ‘Filli Vanilli’ as I do. However, even when she realized what she was doing wrong, she still wasn’t making things easier for Fluttershy, which is a shame because everything else about the episode was GOOD! Sadly, I can’t watch it anymore, without yelling at the screen…
PINKIE!!! YOU’RE NOT HELPING!!!
Screaming, stopping the scene to make dumb jokes, being completely insensitive over and over again, doing dumb shit to the point where the other 5 repeatedly roll their eyes at her…that’s not the Pinkie I came to know and love.
Even worse is that AKR openly said she enjoyed writing Pinkie like that.
