Yep. And to this day-even after the finale aired-I still find the concept to be stupid(not to mention unrealistic).
Now that doesn’t make any goddamn sense.
Yeah I’d say Magic assisted flight is more plausible.

It would explain why Scootaloo can’t fly despite having normal sized wings with the skill to push herself and her friends across town in a wagon,messed up inner magic dispersion. One sees this is bulk biceps who’s wings would never get him off the ground yet is still not only able to fly but be a Wonderbolt candidate and Olympic athlete.His innate magic conduits are normal.
Actually, based on when Tirek stole the pegasi magic, they could no longer fly, and it’s been pointed out that the pegasi wings physically could not hold them up. The magic helps to keep themselves in the air with some help from their wings.
Pegasi Magic, I believe, would have to do with weather manipulation. As for flight, no. They’ve got wings for that.
