Whatever happened to reading a book to just entertain yourself? Foals these days just want to read books to have read them, to prove that they are better than someone else. I bet that if you pushed them, they wouldn’t even be able to come up with a decent short story on their own.  
It’s a shame, really. Books keep getting better and better each year, but the colts and fillies of the world are less interested in the stories of epic struggles and herculean feats, and more interested in simple phrases repeated ad nauseum and visually appealing illustration.
