Siden started out copying Atryl’s style, but now they’re two equally beautiful but very different styles. Style emulation, and trying to continue a fleshed out character, is a great way for an artist to find their own place and grow into something unique by giving them a “drive” to carry on.

It goes beyond that though. Its not simply taking the idea of molestia and saying “I enjoyed those so I want to continue it myself”.
 
But its the whole copying JJ’s art style, using the continuity he built, all of that, that really bugs me. Its like, there is almost 0 things in this artwork that one could actually say is the Artist:101111. Nothing about it is unique because all its doing is trying to be a copycat of someone else.
 
No personal touches, no discernible style, no real soul of the person making this is in this work. Just a blatant attempt to copy someone elses work.
 
At least when people borrow from other works, they try to spin it to make it their own, like what JJ did with celestia in making the character into molestia.

That’s been going on for years.
 
The french copied the indians smoking habits. Now look, everybody does it!

So we have a fanfiction character whose being fix fic’d by a bunch of other fans, so essentially fanfiction about fanfiction about a parody character concept based on a real character.
 
Fandoms are weird. Most other folks would have just tried to make their own thing instead of taking someone elses idea to take a character and do things with them.

I hope this goes better than the attempts to emulate Ask Pinkamena Diane Pie.

Does it matter? It’s a fun character a lot of people like and has enough history and personality for other people to work with.
