@Timberwolf
I’m sure Hasbro would allow pairs as long as the posing implication remains platonic. A chaste hug for example. And I’d not be surprised if they allow canon couples to be done in a closer fashion (eg Cadance/Shining stuff, or Rarity giving Spike a kiss on the cheek).
But even art here that is very clean, something like this >>294933 (deleted) less the blushing and heart, and even that would probably not be passable by Hasbro - just enough implications.
@Masem
Kissing, maybe not, but I bet they’d be find with nuzzling and less obviously shippy stuff. If you could plausibly claim “they’re good friends” as opposed to “they’re lesbian lovers,” it ought to pass muster.
@Background Human
Weird that Hasbro of all companies is a pioneer in this. It could be the dawn of fan-driven content being considered paramount to companies. IP law could change.
Holy poopsnacks. This could be friggin’ huge, not just for the fandom but for 3D printing in general. If it works out for Hasbro, other companies may just take the hint and start licensing their own IP for this newfangled crap. Good for them for taking this first step.
Actually I think I get your meaning now. Farnsworth’s news was always good, at least for him. Maybe not always for Fry and the rest of the crew.
What part of “Hasbro is licensing fan designs” is bad?
Wouldn’t his “good news” actually be bad?

We’ll see, but I bet they can go pretty far.
I don’t know about that.
It’s the only rule they put down to the NYTimes article. I cannot see Hasbro allowing, say, an Oct/Vinyl kissing pose.
GET TO WORK.
All ~810,000 of them!?
Every shipping ever coming.
Rarijack incoming then.
Who said no shipping? As long as it’s not “obscene, violent, or hateful” is their only rule.
Keep in mind that Hasbro has to clear each design, so there’s some limits - eg no OCs, no shipping (outside canon couples), etc.
It is a good step, though, considering how they previously handled the “Hashbro”/Shapeways issue in the past.
The only thing holding me back from actually writing fics is that people might not recognize the characters since they’re so minor…hmm…
@ZSparkonequus
They are, aren’t they?

No love triangles?
They’re actually kinda cute
Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES YES YES!
We must cause a massive surge in fan fics and art.NOW!
