Maybe Dash is skilled in hand-to-hand combat rather than just weapons training from years of traveling far regions, much like her being a blackbelt in karate.

I’m only guessing at weapon choice since she’s the leader of Equestria’s air force in that particular universe. I kinda expect those pilots to carry shooting irons rather than sharpened ones.
Ah, I’m not up to snuff on (insert any verse here) verses so I didn’t know rainbow dash was an unskilled melee combatant.
Considering what’s been shown in the Diplomat-verse, I’m not certain if Rainbow Dash is as skilled a fencer as Spike and Applejack.
If anything, I can imagine her carrying a pistol or two with her.
