Part of the reason I want Sonata to be good is that I once saw the person who headcanoned her and Mystery Mint as sisters, and I’ve stuck to that.
Also, she looks not as evil. Aria has this darker look, more determined. Sonata is more relaxed.

I suspect you two have it right. But one of the bigger problems with the series is that there’s just never enough time to fully flesh out all the villains, and thus when they do tend to pull Heel Face Turns it seems to come out of left field.

sonata being sort of the new girl, aria being a mean bitch but not completly evil and adagio being a complete 2-dimensional fucking monster. :D
then again, i doubt there would be time to properly developt that in the movie, but maybe we’ll se something in the comics, at least i hope so.
I hope so! Personally, I want Sonata to be the cliche girl who kinda wants to be on the good side. Adagio is the leader, and Aria is really enthusiastic about the schemes Adagio cooks up, sometimes even more eager than Adagio herself. Nothing for Adagio yet.

Just checked a few shots from G1, and I can totally believe that (translucent wings, check). If they brought back a G1 villain, why not bring back another G1 species?
Surprise! Some fans are older, and some are married. My wife is a fan of pony, too. Hell, a lot of my married friends are also pony fans.
It looks like they’re G4 updates of the G1 Flutter Ponies (not to be confused with the G3 Breezies). Which is interesting, because Flutter Ponies possessed some weird magic. They took out the Smooze, if I remember correctly.
Not too sure what’s going on here, but it seems like we have some “corrupted” Flutter Ponies that have made their way into the EQG world.
Who know they may be both.

Ooops, yes, you’re right. Or at least, there’s reasonable wing possibilities there. Only thing that throws me off are that sirens if winged are generally bird-like ones so why the moth-butterfly style on the pony forms?
Not enough clues to guess yet, but yeah, I’d go with sirens for now.

That was my first through too, though sirens are not usually winged. I’m just tossing ideas out.
Speaking of ideas, they could also be personifications of Eris (not our R63 Discord, but the actual mythos one). Eris per Greek mythos specific brewed jealously between humans (which is exactly what is happening here).
It’s interesting that they do act kinda provocative (in a G-rated way) as they go by the students (of both genders), but that could just be the standard “evil = slutty” shorthand.

I thought of that too, but their intent seems to be to cause chaos, not so much seducing. I’m still checking some other possible myths, but some reason I keep thinking of that Torchwood episode that involved the evil fairies.
Also can’t help keep going back to those pony wings.
Succubi come to mind as well. (Demons who tempt mortals with carnal pleasures)
Fairies are not necessarily good and want to cause mischief. The pony forms have wings associated with fairies.
