That whole “magical beast” thing sounds ridiculous. Maybe it’s just because he’s a reptile.
well spike isn’t a pony and is different to the other species we know of. far as we know gryphons, ponies, and diamond dogs don’t have the tendency to spotnaneously mature and grow, nor have their animalistic sides take over.
spike is at large more of a magical being than tiwlight is. and as such is not a equivalent to a mortal. thus his form was not of a human.
they are of pony kind and are largely exceptions. however spike entire species are long lived, powerful magical beasts.
This reasoning just makes the whole thing another level of terrible.
But he’s just as sapient as them.
they do in the sense that they are all similarly sapient and intelligent, though diamond dogs are a bit naive. so they translate into a sapient species
spike is a baby magical beast, but is still a magical beast, intelligence or no. the dragons are on a different plane to things like ponies, gryphons, and diamond dogs.
i direct thee to my comment about it. the ponies, gryphons, and diamond dogs are sapient races and translate into humans. even celesti and luna are of pony kind if with exceptional circumstances.
spike is ultimately a magical beast despite his intelligence and young age. there is nothing he can translate into in the human world, so he became a beast.
Neither do those other races.

put simply a dragon does not translate into something that can exist in the human world.
