I personally loved the idea of Celestia and Starswirl travelling between parallel universes and that’s one of the reasons Equestria has such varrying tech levels.
Still, it had quite a few problems, I admit.
@LuminoZero
Yeah, but the show is getting better…it probably will never get as dark and serious as the comics can, but eh. What can you do. Loved that arc.
Just because this comic arc was bad doesn’t mean they all are. I still persist that Night Mares was better than any attempt the show ever made to do something serious and dark.

Yeah, that was one of those things where you realize that the way you phrased it changed what you actually said just after I posted it. I meant that it was something that seemed upvote worthy but then kinda messed with me due to personal reasons. Like the gif. says I wasn’t gonna upvote or downvote I just choose a weird way of phrasing my reaction which sounds kinda whiny in retrospect.
Because this is actually attempting to give her character and making her in any way capable, while the story it’s based on did it’s best to make her INcapable because she just really, really liked her OC, and wanted to make Celestia imperfect so that her more perfect OC could shine.
And now you know why these comics read like bad Fimfiction. It’s pretty much based on it.
-Lumino
“that are” is a typo
No they didn’t, but my point is that the only things that we have seen capable that are of purifying are locked away to not be used.
Thing is, the comics were the only harbor where Celestia was being treated properly.
And then comes Reflections and utterly demolishes that. This is what Katie Cook thinks makes Celestia a better character. This is who she’ll be in histories from now on.
And Season 5 hints that it will be the same thing as Season 4: With Celestia completely gone.
It’s just… hopeless. There’s no hope for Celestia whatsoever, they might as well retcon her out of existence.
The elements didn’t purify Discord either.
Hey man, yeah at first I hoped they would do Celestia some justice.
I try to stay hopeful that we won’t see him again because of 3 facts (well 2 general and 1 for the show):
Or at least ended it on a good note.
-Lumino
Sorry, Reflections is my berserk button. I hate it so much.
And trust me, I tried to like it, I REALLY wanted it to be good.
Alright, let’s just calm down.
at least good sombra is gone, flash cliché is still around and will be use again <_<
No, he isn’t. At least Flash had the decency of keeping his mouth shut and being virtually useless to the plot. Black Brad not only is as boring and bidimensional as he is, but he actually MATTERS in the plot, and the plot is worse for it.
HE DENIED ME FUCKING PHOENIX CELESTIA. THAT’S FUCKING BULLSHIT.
say what you want of good sombra, but he is better than flash cliche.
*he’s always portrayed as right
Y’now, Black Brad IS pretty much the textbook definition of a Mary Sue. A new character who is considered very beautiful, smart, and intelligent. He’s completely absolved of the blame of his relationship with Celestia, he’s always portrayed, he has no discernible flaws, and he’s the one that ultimately solves the conflict using artifacts established in the series that, by all logic that we’ve been given, should not work for him, but work regardless, and he has a grand heroic sacrifice that is mourned by other characters.
Though my problems with him is less that he’s a Mary Sue and more that he’s a completely boring fuck that screwed over Celestia’s only chance to be taken seriously as a character.
Oh no Im not saying it without meaning, from what I saw in those comics the character I am referring to is very one dimensional in his personality. I think his defining character trait was that he’s “good” in every way, couple that with the fact that hes written in such a way as to be so charming and to “know better” in every single instance, it reminds me of other examples of “perfect characters” in stories. And the term Mary Sue does have a real definition and therefore a meaning, another pseudonym for it would also be an Author Surrogate.
Ding!
that word without meaning again, i think is time to find a new work…which will be abused again to the point of meaning lost, making all this pointless.
