and I forgot to say that she actually BRAGGED about the attention she was getting, seeing it as a good thing. Until she got bored with it.

She wasn’t just a scapegoat. She was one of the main instigators in the letter writing campaign. As you could see from the responses on her tumblr where she kept calling Derpy disgusting and ableist. And even now she hasn’t stopped whining about how “Derpy should retire”.
 
When this went down she censored comments made by disabled people on her dA people all willy nilly because they disagreed with her. She removed any comments with good points while keeping troll posts with “I hope you burn in hell”. Those are your so-called “death threats”.

Though looking at the image you posted, I must admit I was wrong in one way. I have no idea who the concerned individuals were. Maybe they were just “Social Justice Warriors” over-reacting. And if they were, then AKR had every right to be worried. Word spreads quickly among SJW’s, and she would have been swarmed with threats and accusations that would make her life far harder to enjoy.
 
Wait I minute, IU just realised something. You know who had that happen to her? Yamino. She became the scapegoat of Derpygate, when all she was guilty of was writing a mediocre webcomic. People actually tried to send her death threats. Death threats! Over something so harmless as being concerned!

Nope, the writer responsible said she got only 10 letters from people who complained about “ableism”. The people who complained had no reason to be offended. Infact the vast majority of handicapped people loved Derpy Hooves.  
No, it was Amy Keating Rogers who initiated it all because she got scared by a dozen angry letters. (She also received 200 thank you letters).  
The edit is incredibly offensive to people with cross-eyes and who are otherwise like Derpy.
 
So as you can see, please get your facts straight before thinking you know everything.

It was far more than a dozen, and those people weren’t doing it because they hated bronies. They were doing it because they were concerned/offended by a crappy joke. Also, it was iTunes and/or The Hub and/or Hasbro, not a writer.

Derpygate exists because a dozen haters managed to convince a writer to censor a beloved character, SO YES.

The number of circlejerking anti-pony blogs is staggering right now. fuck no my little pony, rib, friendship is prejudice, etc. They all have in common that their followers like to feel superior to bronies by finding single assholes and pretending they represent the fandom.

The way you say it, it sounds like they would hate the fandom regardless of the quality of fans. This is a silly and immature thought process. Nobody at an adult age seriously gives a fuck about what someone finds entertaining. However, when people make up cutesy terms for sexual things, make awful awful art and mediocre music, make racist and misogynist comments, embrace assorted taboo, and on top of it all, ceaselessly try to convince them to be just like them, that’s when people become loathesome.
 
By the way, I am a follower of bronysay, bronyetiquette, and shutupaboutponies. I can’t really say anything about the first blog, the the other two blogs are run by fans of the show.

No, they’re accusing the fandom in general. Have you read blogs like Friendship is Prejudice? Always with the “ugh, I hate bronies”, “bronies are the worst people in the world”, “typical brony”. This is less about attacking assholes and more about using them as an excuse to hate the fandom.

The bonyetiquette guy doesn’t actually post his stuff on here himself, you know. It’s someone else doing it.
 
Furthermore, yes, you should be less defensive. They’re accusing your fellow fans who ARE terrible people, not you yourself. The right thing to do is call out and/or ostracize people who are racists, misogynists, and so on.

So we should not be defensive when we as a collective are accused of being racist? Okay then.
