I couldn’t have worded it any better, my friend.
I think it would at least be nice to see Sunset struggle with being a good at least a little. I mean, we don’t need nor want to see her bully Fluttershy in the halls again, but it’d be nice if we at least got a sarcastic comment or two here or there.
I was more or less joking there, but still, her 180 degree turn in personality is somewhat unconvincing to me - in terms of storytelling, not in-universe, of course.

Tell that to the Care Bears and their rainbow of mindrape.
Basically this, among other things. There’s no way I’ll ever agree with the idea that the Rainbow Blasts actually force a personality change.
There’s that, too. It might be a combination of that, sincere guilt, and knowing she’s on very thin ice.
brainwashing? doubt it. it would kinda disrupt the hwole harmony thing to compeltely subvert someone’s will.
besides considering her old behavior made her lose control of her own actions and turn int something truly horrifying (nightmare moon was t least an elegantly dark creature), probably kinda traumatized her.
I don’t know if I feel she’s been brainwashed, but her personality switch does seems a tad bit jarring to me.
It’s possible she’s trying extra, super hard to be nice after the events in the first movie… I’m just hoping we get more moments like where she’s sitting on the piano going, “A demon… eye roll I turned into a raging she-demon…”
So in other worlds… controlling her by convincing her she’s already being controlled? Slick.
