Are you kidding? For one, it would make people who like the pairing happy, like me, as well as Hasbro could profit off of another playset revolving around the two characters. Its not like Hasbro hasn’t already made decisions that would be unpopular within the fandom for the sake of money. As well, their writers could explore something that they have not previously done yet, excluding flash and Twilight.
Why don’t just leave all the ships to fandom? There is nothing show will gain from canonizing one of the ships, aside from upsetting many people.
And I pray to god it will.
wow i never look at the other number before! i never would of guess soarindash was in such a close 3rd place! wouldnt that be awesome if it were to take top spot someday!
Yet, Soarin’ hardly gets any toys and Spitfire gets plastered on things. Ugh. Shitfire is more like it.
I really liked how Spitfire was portrayed in “The Best Night Ever”, how she was very laid-back and friendly despite being the lead of a [[quasi-]military] elite flying team. But her roles in “Wonderbolts Academy” and “Rainbow Falls” have shifted her characterization to the standard hard-ass win-at-any-cost military leader, and she’s fallen precipitously in my “best minor pony” rankings as a result. sigh So, yeah, at this point Soarin’ is the only Wonderbolt I have any interest in.
Oh I see. Ah well, guess I can’t have numbers fooling me here.
That’s just tagged images here on Derpibooru though. I based that more on what I see everywhere, from fanfic pairings to just expressed opinions to poll results and so on. I think in general in the fandom at large it’s not as high, relatively speaking.
Surprisingly enough, soarindash surpasses flutterdash and pinkiedash here in terms of numbers. Its only bested by twidash, appledash cringes, and of course the almighty sparity.

i said most popular STRAIGHT ship! i know RDxMANE5 are more popular….
I don’t think Soarindash is even the second most popular ship though. Or second “non-canon” most popular ship. Or even the most popular Dash ship… I think Appledash, Twidash, and Flutterdash are probably more popular in general.
And Sparity’s a one sided crush, but I guess that might still qualify as canon just because even if it’s just a crush it’s an indisputable real thing.
