Well like I said, a falling-out can happen at any time, for any reason. It doesn’t have to be something minor, but the option exists. I ALSO think that, if they had a falling-out, they would likely try to reconcile shortly after, considering how they’d realize just how lonely they each are.
It’s not like they have any other friends…
I would bet DT is pressured by her parents to be successful at any costs, that she doesn’t need friends, etc. So that ends up making her socially awkward and sort of withdrawn. It might not be in her nature to be snotty, but her parents have kind of indoctrinated her to be number one and not associate with her lessers (except Silver Spoon, whose parents are probably in the same tax bracket/social circles). I’ve met a lot of people who were awful as kids and became good, kind adults. Some people outgrow pettiness. On the other hand, I can sort of see Sweetie Belle become a real bitch when she’s older. I don’t think Apple Bloom would really change, as she has a big family support network. And I think Scootlaloo will be someone who just rolls with the punches and is very resilient.
As for religion, I would kind of get a kick out of seeing DT as a Hare Krishna beating a tambourine on a street corner, or trying to get people to check their Thetan levels (L. Pone Hoofard was a popular writer in Equestria, after all).
Honestly, I doubt DT would do that to Spoon, as she actually does seem to care about her somewhat, (even if she is a bully, she’s not that “evil”) and is pretty much her best friend. Even if she did try to steal her milkshake (Pinkie Pride) which Spoon quickly stole back the moment her back was turned, which kinda hints even if they’re friends, they do pick on each other sometimes.
@kircher
I saw that DT “with kitty” fanart. I like seeing how some fanart like that still portrays her as cute, dispite her bratty/stuck-up nature.
Y’know, I just had a thought, you notice Tiara, and Spoon dispite being “popular in school” rarely seem to hang around other fillies? Maybe they do actually put others off, or have trouble making friends, because of how bratty, or stuck-up they are. Maybe it’s not just Spoon who depends on Tiara, but perhaps DT depends on her, as well.
Maybe some day they could grow up to be nice fillies, actually alot of people who were terrible as kids, became nicer when they got older. I remember a bully I knew as a kid became nice when he became a teenager.
And sadly another kid who was nice as a kid, became a jerk when he was a teen. So it can happen in reverse to.
As for “finding religion,” it depends on the religion. Like “Volcano worshippers,” though they might try to sacrifice the CMC. :P
Honestly didn’t really think about it–just kind of let the stereotypes shape what I wrote, which is a bit unfair.I personally would like to see different facets of them both; I like that fanart with DT’s cat, where she more a normal kid, albeit still bratty. I’d personally view DT as similar to Muffy in the Arthur cartoons, snobby but not a bad person. I would definitely like to see both her and Silver Spoon mature into better characters, but unfortunately it’s been my experience that spoiled entitled children grow into spoiled entitled adults. Unless they find religion or something, which isn’t necessarily a better outcome. Also, I get the idea that Silver Spoon hangs out with DT because she has no confidence and is afraid to be alone of she tries to make new friends and fails.
The idea that they can change over time is certainly not out of the picture, the question is, how much time would it take?
Maybe they go through High School before something changes their lives, maybe the first episode of Season 5 results in DT beating Silver into hospitalization off-camera for her insubordination.
…
Rated Y, of course.
Even so, I don’t really see her as all that much “nicer” then Tiara is. She’s just as materialistic, and snooty it seems.
Though, I do like to think someday they both might mature, and become nicer when they get older. Though, I don’t think it’ll happen in the show, sense I don’t think they want to overdo the “bad guy becoming reformed” thing to much in the show.
@Beau Skunky
Again: It seems like she isn’t the one who comes up with the ideas, still. Twilight Time pretty much kept everything with Diamond Tiara when it comes to control (and even power, seeing what her pool is like, showing how rich she is).
I’m among those who believe that Silver’s trying to be on Diamond’s good side by being her “number one filly” rather than imagining them as “Bulk and Skull’.
Yeah, but that doesn’t mean Faust ever planned on having S.S. pull a “Babs Seed,” or something. Even if she is Tiara’s “follower/sidekick,” she still seems to be just as mean as Tiara, just not quite as savvy as she is, which is why she’s the “follower.”
Overall, Tiara & Spoon’s main roles have been to give confrontation, and be rivals for the CMC, and I don’t think that’s going to change.
Though, I wouldn’t mind seeing other sides to their personalities. Tiara’s brief singing bit actually was kinda adorable in “Pinkie Pride,” and they were a li’l nicer/cuter in “Twilight Time.” (Even if it was mostly just brown-nosing the CMC, but at one point they did try to help make the CMC “more popular.”)
I remember, before season 2 started, some people speculating that Silver Spoon was just Diamond Tiara’s lackey, basing that on something from “Call of the Cutie”; Lauren Faust later confirmed she did intend for SS to be the follower, which no doubt fueled hopes that she could be redeemed if she were removed from DT’s influence. It does seem they’re used interchangeably since the start of S3, though.
No offense, but I don’t get why Silver Spoon seems more “sympathetic,” and such to fans, then Tiara. Many fics & fanart often portray her as “secretly nicer,” “not as bad as Tiara,” and basically being another “Babs Seed,” just under “bad influence,” and such… (Which is sadly becoming extremely cliche’ with fan-portrayals of Spoon.) To be honest, aside from applauding Granny in “Family Apprecation Day,” (yet she was a li’l mean before that in said episode to) she’s been shown in the show to be no-less stuck-up, snooty, and a bully then Tiara is…
Especially, in “Flight to the Finish,” like when she remarked “how do we stop them?” (The CMC.) Showing she was willing to do something underhanded to win. (Like breaking Scootaloo’s confidence.)
While I’m not against the idea of showing different sides to them, or say fan-portrayals of them redeeming themselves, or becoming nicer when they get older, I just don’t get why fans always side with Spoon, and ONLY Spoon. Like wanting her to “betray big meanie Tiara,” and such, or always try to portray her as the “better pony,” or the only “redeemable” one.
She’s just as “flawed” as Tiara is, I feel personally. Still, even if they are li’l brats, I kinda like both of ’em.
I think Silver Spoon would be the one who blossoms into the pretty, popular girl when she moves out from DT’s shadow, while DT has become the class slut who no one respects and empties her parents’ medicine cabinet.
Nah… DT, maybe, but I’d think Spoon would be the opposite. She’d be the ditzy friend with the incredible figure.
2 words… Fat chicks.
What about DT and Spoon?
Okay, that made me laugh.
I’m sure it’s just a phase. They’ll be out of it after high school/college.
