Well, actually in the first Mother game, he had been under orders from his race(believe it or not, whatever the hell Giygas is, there’s an entire race of him) to take over the world, when Ninten and co played the eight melodies, due to all the memories of Maria he still had, it made him go complete ape-shit insane, so by the time of Earthbound, atleast from what Porky said, Giygas was so far gone he didn’t know what the heck he was even doing
