I had a fun idea for an interesting take where an Asturian communist winds up going there and THROUGH that standard level of human violence actually eliminates the classism and pony-centricism of their society.  
It’s harder to write than it is to GM though. :v  
That’s basically what happened in an Earth Dawn session of mine, a Shadowrunner got punted back into the past and fucked up the future with a 2500-year-early revolution.  
In essence it turned out to be a Humans Are Bastards…With Effective Governance story, and everything wound up improving considerably after the initial flurry of head-smashy.
 
An Equestrian equiv would probably be sheep, buffalo, zebras, mules, and other ‘looked down upon’ hooved quadrapeds rising up and sacking Canterlot like Huns under the leadership of a Leninist Khan.

Maybe because while there are some great people out there and humans have amazing potential, a vast majority of the populace are ignorant mindless sheeple?

Well none of us is as prone to be arseholes as all of us.

It’s kind of supported by history though. Every time two human cultures at different technological levels have made contact, it ended badly for one of them. Individuals can be decent, but in large groups, we tend to get nasty.

BRW, the trope is now called “humans are the real monsters”.

There is a group on Fimfiction that is dedicated to fics that where humans aren’t monsters. In fact it has nearly the same description as what was said in the pic here.

Hear hear!! I am very tired of the “Humans are Bastards” trope as well. Although now its been renamed “Humans are the Real Monsters” from apparent misuse.

Yeah, this is also a trope, but one where we’re presented at God-like figures to a thankful populace would be unrealistic. It’s never happened before. Unlike the trope presented here.
 
The only way it could happen is if we met a sapient species with technologies and intelligence equal to or greater than our own.

Yeah, “Humans are bastards” is a very tired trope that needs to take a break for a while, but I don’t think presenting us as freaking Stephen Hawking or Gandhi is a good alternative.

What about a partial ponification of Mark Twain’s A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court?
 
Basically the same idea, just the human wouldn’t be 100% spotless…

You’re talking about humanity hundreds of years ago, without the benefit of hundreds of years cultural progress. Also, we can look back at what our ancestors did and know not to make the same mistakes.

I remember when I read Chat’s stories.  
There was so much misanthropism I nearly gagged.
