I believe WatermelonRat has it. Rarity’s special talent does seem to be bringing out the beauty in things, or finding that “diamond in the rough” if you will. To me, her diamond cutie marks have always been a symbolic representation of this.

^Shouldn’t Pinkie’s Cutie Mark talent and Applied talent be switched? Her cutie mark are some ballons, related to parties, and that’s one of the ways she has to spread happiness and laughter.

Applied Talent = Beautifying and Fabulosity  
Job = Fashion Designer
 
Just like Pinkie Pie’s skill set is:  
Raw Cutie Mark Talent = Creating Happiness and Laughter  
Applied Talent = Throwing PARTIES!
