also tell that to countries like Kiribati, who are going to drown in the next few years

worshiping the planet is another lie made up by big oil. By far most enviornmentalists don’t, its a ploy to get christians against them

and no, a car is NOT as natural as a beaver dam, that is some of the biggest bullcrap I have ever heard.

If the Earth is getting warmer then why was I frozen today?

2010 was the hottest year on record, with a mean worldwide temperature of 58.03 degrees Fahrenheit. 2011 was the 11th hottest, 2009 the 6th, and 2008 the 12th. The 10 hottest years were all in the past 15 years. This was concluded by combining data from the N.A.S.A. Goddard Institute for Space Studies, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Hadley Centre for Climate Research. The N.O.A.A. records go back to 1807, with global measurements beginning in 1880.

@bronyheresy: you obviously don’t live in the united states if you think we’ve not had a particularly hot summer. also, the midwest has not had a normal year when it comes to weather or temperature in over a decade. the seasons have shifted by at least two months across the globe, and while the world’s climate goes in a cyclical pattern humans ARE producing more dangerous greenhouse gasses than any other time in history. water vapor might be the “top” greenhouse gas, but it’s non-toxic, and its condensation temperature is rather high compared to most greenhouse gasses.

Maybe the main problem in any sort of thing like this is that people have what I like to call Israelite memory, in reference to Exodus. We like to forget what actually happened, and remember what didn’t. So if you don’t remember the 70’s world is getting colder worry, that’s not my issue. But by looking at trends, there are cold regimes, and there are warm regimes. Right now we’re in a bit of a warm regime, but two years ago was one of the coldest years since the 20’s, and we haven’t had a positively blazing summer either.

I don’t think all environmentalists want to kill humanity. When’d I say that? Geez, I make a simple statement and you get all up in my business. I guess it really works both ways, huh?
And why do you say it’s not cyclic? Back in the 70’s we were worried about global cooling. Beside that, if you look at the number one greenhouse gas, it’s water vapor. Which makes a lot of sense when you think about it. And we can’t really do much about that. The amount of greenhouse gases put out by humans, especially compared to the rest of the world, while of a fair size, are nowhere near levels that could cause apocalyptic climate change in the next few centuries.
Keep in mind that not all scientists who don’t support your view necessarily support or are paid by big oil. Some of us believe that the climate change deal has more to do with political agenda, specifically increasing government regulation. One must keep in mind that people like power for it’s own sake.
As to the conservationist vs. environmentalist deal, I would say there is a difference. I believe in good stewardship to take care of our planet, but some people take it to rediculous extremes where it almost seems like they’re worshipping the planet. You know the kind of people I’m talking about.
And while I don’t believe that we need to go to expensive extremes to take care of the planet, I do believe we need to take care of this ol’ mudball. And a car or roadway is just as natural as a beaver dam. The only difference is that we’re smarter than beavers, so we have bigger more complex stuff.

and there is no difference between a conservationist and enviornmentalist. And no, not all enviornmetalists want to kill of humanity like the industry wants you to think

no, it’s not cyclic. There is so much proof for it. If you look at the HUGE HUGE majority of scientists instead of focusing aon the small amount of deniers who are mainly propped up by big oil

:Filibuster: Putting aside the fact that Gore severely exaggerates the evidence, and I don’t personally care for the man (who is a huge hypocrite), I do believe that there is evidence for climate change. But it’s really more of a cyclic thing, and not really something we can do that much about, as nature creates far more greenhouse gasses than we do. I’m a conservationist, but not an environmentalist, as I believe that, as far as taking care of the planet goes, if you pick up after yourself, and don’t use more than you need, you’re doing A-OK. And no, I don’t believe humanity is going extinct any time soon. We may be self-centered, :Snoipah: cactus-eatin’, bomb-lobbin’, spastic, twitchy, lard-armed, two-faced, pod, potato-hoppin’, mutant bastards :/Snoipah:, but we’re still too smart for nature to get us that easily. That said, I have no hope for the current world economy, which I believe is well on the way to extinction.

As to the picture, well in that version of Equestria, I find it highly amusing that he was right, in a self-deprecating sort of way. :/Filibuster:

The irony is that this picture is about a LATER prediction that Al Gore makes about horses becoming sentient and learning how to use plasma cannons.

I don’t want to elaborate and cause another big debate so I’ll just calmly state that I believe the scientific evidence presented regarding climate change.

That being said, I don’t really care for Al Gore. I don’t really care for Al Gore at all. Oh, and I really don’t like his music censoring school marm of a wife either.
