It’s because google play or whatever was discontinued. And or being shut down.
But when they did it, they broke YouTube because YouTubes code is pretty much copy/paste google play at this point. And YouTube staff don’t know how to separate YouTube from that google code.

Why on Earth did they not just leave the coding essentially what it was? I mean, no site so massive as that should have its coding copied from somewhere else almost entirely.

Google owns YouTube.
That’s why the decision was made to also connect codes to solidify the connection.
But now the connection between the two is so similar that no one knows how to fix it. They’re working on it.
