I hope the game’s still good, despite the many disapointing minor changes. Especially, Geno’s cameo removed…
 
I don’t get why Nintendo & Square/Enix tend to try to pretend SMRPG never happened. (They even had an opportunity to bring back a SMRPG character in their Mario Sports collaboration games.) Perhaps sense the game is now 21 years old, they see it as kinda obscure, despite the many fans it has.  
I think I’d rather have a SMRPG remake then a “Superstar Saga” one. (Especially, the half-assed changes AlphaDream is pulling.)
 
I hate to sound like one of those annoying SMRPG fanboys, (like the ones on Miiverse constantly begging for the game to be put on VC/Eshop, which kinda gave SMRPG fans a bad reputation to the point some started to needlessly bash the game, or call it “overrated/outdated.”) but I just feel it’s a shame that it’s the only RPG Mario game to never get a proper sequel, or much regard in other games.  
Aside from SSB’s Mii costume, (which even then was done so they probably won’t have to include him in a future SSB) or the Mushroom Kingdom town BGM in “Fortune Street.”)  
If it wasn’t for it, we wouldn’t have the spinoff Paper Mario & M&L RPG games too, so not including Geno’s cameo in the M&L:SS remake also kinda feels like a middle finger, or lazyness/cheapness on AlphaDream/Nintendo’s part.

Worst part is, Geno was originally going to be in both Brawl AND Smash 4 for real, but with Brawl Sakurai was unable to negotiate the rights with Square Enix and with Smash 4 he had trouble coming up with a moveset.
 
Contrary to popular belief, however, the “Forest Mushrooms” track discovered on Brawl’s disc was probably not the Forest Maze music, but rather the Toadwood Forest music from Partners in Time, owing to the spot on the disc the track was found at (next to the Gritzy Desert remix; Brawl tracks were organized on the disc based on which games they originally came from).

I hear Geno is surprisingly a very highly requested character for SSB. Maybe with luck he’ll get in SSB Switch, or at least have a trophy.
 
Actually, the track was titled “Beware the Forest Mushrooms,” which is what the official Japanese SMRPG Soundtrack CD lists the “Forest Maze’s” BGM title as.  
Also, the soundtrack composer for both SMRPG & M&L Yoko Shimomura worked on SSB Brawl & 4. (Composing the Tetris Russian theme.)
 
Interestingly, Rareware’s Banjo Kazooie were considered for SSB Melee, and probably would’ve been in Brawl if it wasn’t for the Microsoft buy-out of Rare. Shame…

Actually, no. The hidden Brawl track was just titled “Forest Mushrooms”, not “Beware the Forest’s Mushrooms”. And all we had was the text indicating that it was a thing, but some guy automatically assumed that it was the SMRPG and just uploaded the original Forest Maze track claiming it was a lost track. And, again, the placement of the track indicates that it was more likely Toadwood Forest and not Forest Maze.

Geno was gonna be in Brawl and SSB4? Despite him being a one-shot character in a Mario game?

Alot of fans were begging him to be in regardless. (That’s how Sonic, Cloud, and some others got in.) And the SSB series has had other one-shot characters in it too.

Sure seems to be taking a long time to make/announce it. At this point, I wouldn’t mind “SSB for Nintendo Switch” being just an upgraded port of the WiiU game with all the DLC included, and some new stuff like “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.” I’m curious what new characters & stages they could include besides the obvious Splatoon ones.

I once had a dream that a Switch version added Isabelle, Inkling Girl (Green) and Bokoblin (Breath of the Wild) as playable characters. The very latter’s Final Smash had him blow a horn that summoned other Bokoblins onto the field.

I just learned that the Japanese version of Mario Party 2 had a slightly different ending to the Western Land board.
 
Rather than cork guns in the American version, the Japanese version had Bowser and the winner use actual revolvers.

I heard that too. Funny how guns are allowed in Japanese media, considering citizens aren’t allowed to have them.  
Meanwhile, in America just having one on TV is considered a huge debatable issue.
 
Also, Wario & Luigi say “Oh my God!” when they lose in the Japanese MP games. They also are apparently not voiced by Charles Martinet, which is why they sound so different.  
In fact, Wario’s early deep MP voice was also in the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64.

Why did they call the game “Tetris Attack” when it has nothing to do with Tetris?

For marketing/sales reasons, because people like Tetris. And probably ‘cause Nintendo of America still had license to use the name, for the Gameboy version, and such.
 
In Japan they later released it as “Yoshi’s Panel De Pon.” Interestingly, the Gameboy version of that is on the Japanese 3DS Virtual Console/Eshop. America got “Pokémon Puzzle League GBC” instead.

Because of this, some idiot on Lemmy’s Land believed it was the exact same as Tetris, and said that Nintendo was totally justified in using the name.

Yeah, they got permission from one of the creators of Tetris (not Alexey Pajitnov, I think it was someone else) to use the name for the game, and the guy who gave them permission later said that he really regretted doing that because of how little it had to do with Tetris.

It’s gameplay style is much more similar to games like Kirby’s avalanche.

No that, and “Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine” are based off Compile’s “Puyo Puyo” game.

Suddenly realized doesn’t have a Switch and chances of getting one is slim to nothing  

Also Mario & Luigi remake comes out this Friday. (officially anyway)

Haven’t been this hyped for a Mario game since Galaxy, but Odyssey is shaping up to be another great game

I thought it been came out since some Reddit users are sharing their own personal reviews about the full game. I guess it was a region release difference.
