Most of the time the villain(s) attack one area at a time, allowing the Mane 6 to group up and confront the danger in one setting.
 
Now imagine the Evil unicorn Empress sending her generals to each attack a different region in Equestria. The Mane 6 would be forced to split up.

If villains get intelligent, Equestria is gonna need an actual military. It’s already canon in the MLP universe that cannons and bullets exist.

Ah. I feel like that was put their more so as a comparison that the audience recognizes than as a reference in that world, especially since we never seen guns or bullets in the series before nor since.

They could have used arrow instead of bullet, but given much of Equestrias technology that we do see on rare occasions, such as metal detectors, televisions, digital displays, lasers, etc, I think the only thing that prevents them from actually showing guns is the Y rating. Otherwise, RD should have no idea what a bullet is.
