Ohio exit polls are showing a majority of voters support abortion and that 60% are angry and dissatisfied with Roe being overturned.

All data point to both amendments are on a path to pass comfortably.

Earlier, former UN Human Rights official Craig Mokhiber, who claims he stepped down over the department’s response to the Gaza invasion, stated the invasion is “textbook genocide” and that the UN is once again choosing to ignore it as they did the ones in Bosnia i Herzegovina, Myanmar, and Rwanda.

Honestly, sometimes I’m torn between… well, an option that probably wouldn’t be allowed on here, and just telling the settlers that the IDF will no longer defend settlements, no matter what happens.

Im not exactly sure that number is accurate. According to the far more balanced source, Committee to Protect Journalists, the total number of dead journalists and media workers in this conflict is 39, and this includes four Israeli journalists killed by Hamas. I generally don’t trust middleeasteye as a reliable news source

Now it’s still worth noting that 35 dead journalists is still an extreme number, especially when you consider that the Russo-Ukrainian war has 17 journalists dead and that’s counting from 2014 when the annexation of Crimea and the Donbas war started

Honestly the settlements would be inoffensive if Israeli civilians in the settlements were under the same laws as Area C Palestinians(Area C Palestinians live under Israeli military law while Israeli settlers live under civilian law) and settlers just didn’t love terrorizing Palestinians, bedouins and generally anyone who isn’t them all the time

35 journalists + 88 UN staffers have been zipped up inside a body bag, in a period of 30 days, making the conflict to be one of the most risky gigs so far.

Considering the Israel ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan has said “The UN no longer has any ounce of legitimacy or relevancy” is it safe to consider Israel a rogue state based?

Dems are leading in the VA31 senate race.

31 is special because it contains the swingest of swing counties, Loudoun County, hot bed of Youngkins victory in 2021.

It’s seen as the bellwether, and if dems flip it blue then it’s likely lights out for Republicans hopes of a trifecta.

Early results are coming in. Ohio’s abortion and marijuana legalization hold pretty large leads, but has been slowly losing ground every update. Still, only 25% has been tabulated.

Democrat Andy Beshear has won reelection for Kentucky Governor, beating out Trump-endorsed challenger.

Likewise the NYT is calling Ohio Issue 1 as being passed, codifying abortion onto Ohio’s Constitution.

Tate Reeves won reelection in Mississippi as expected.

Cherelle Jackson is projected to become the first woman elected Mayor of Philadelphia.

Democrats have retained control of Virginia’s Senate, and according to Dave Wasserman have won 50 seats in the House of Delegates, stripping Republicans of full control. But if current patterns hold, they may win one more seat for a majority.

Looks like the down ballot races in VA followed a similar pattern, mostly stayed the same but what flips there were saw dems flip rep seats.

Republicans also lost seats they had flipped in New Jersey. Old makeup was 25 dem majority in the upper chamber and 46 majority in the lower. Dems are on track to win 25-26 in the upper, and a 51 majority in the lower. Which would grant them an over 60% supermajority in both chambers.

Dems still have a chance to sweep all the competitive VA senate districts with the 24th and 27th, which would give them a 23 seat majority, but realistically they only have a shot in the 24th which is heading for an automatic recount. Either way, they denied reps their trifecta.

Also recreational marijuana use is now legal in Ohio. The Buckeye State is now officially dank.

I hear that Anti-Trans folks are having a bad night.

Also Daniel McCaffery won the Penn Supreme Court Seat, holding the Dem supermajority.

CNN, Washington Post, and some independent pollsters have called it, Dems have swept VA’s legislature and shattered Youngkin’s rising star.

Break out the bread crumbs and the crutches, because Glenn’s got a lame duck!

A colleague of mine confidently boasted today that we would wake up in a Red Virginia. I almost feel bad that I have tomorrow off, as I will not get to see their face after this.

This is likely the end of Youngkin’s career. He put so much of himself into flipping the Senate and holding the House that he basically made them his fucking Horcruxes. This defeat will be utterly humiliating.

That’s absolutely hilarious.

Some final thoughts.

Youngkin represented the GOPs “best” hope for crafting any sort of “winning” message on abortion outside of just straight up capitulation.

He thought he was doing it the right way by trying to attack it head on, but as a few pollsters pointed out recently all that did was make abortion more salient.

The GOP does not have a functional strategy on abortion, because even their “compromise” is out of step with the majority.

The Dem wins in the VA suburbs in particular show that Youngkins policy hits were a flash in the pan.

12, count that, 12 states have possible abortion ballot issues coming in 2024. And while not all of those will make it, ones in swing states like Arizona and Pennsylvania are looking likely.

This is not an issue that is going away, and right now Republicans absolutely are on the losing side of it.

I’m already seeing “Cheating” and “Rigged” trending on Twitter, the Right is coping and seething right now.
