the doomsday clock is not ticking dude, article 13 is on its last legs with the final vote being in April-May I believe, this new version of Article 13 and 11 is worse than the last but this can still be stopped, but it’s going to rely on the EU Parliament actually having a backbone and saying that this is not acceptable. And that is going to require people in Europe to contact their MEPs and telling them not to wreck the internet.

I have noticed that most site staff who commented on this thread are pretty calm about this I’m curious as to why, care to explain why folks shouldn’t be worried about this site’s well-being under article 13?

Because it’s not a major site, I think an admin said it wouldn’t be affected by the law.

Actually, the more recent version of the law could affect smaller sites I hear people saying, here are the parts of the new version that has people worried again if you want to look at it if you still think this site is going to be ok then please explain why.
 
France and Germany have reached a new deal.
 
Under the compromise, the Copyright Directive – specifically, Article 13 – would apply to all European for-profit platforms.
 
All online platforms would have to install upload filters, continuously checking for copyright infringement, except under three of the following criteria:
 
Platform/site available to the public for less than 3 years.  
Annual turnover falls below €10 million ($11.4 million).  
Fewer than 5 million unique monthly visitors.  
Article 13 would apply to all apps and websites in the EU

France is the worst offenser in this case. Over here copyright and artists’ rights are upheld with something akin to religious dogma. The SACEM, the author protection body, is like a rabid dog running around looking for ankles to bite. They will monitor your downloads, and will go after you if they catch you downloading French movies. So, yeah, article 13 is gonna fucking suck for bigger plateforms, but, as said before, Derpibooru is safe, so no worries for this site.

It’s a reality filter on your side, namely, naivete. Derpi not being targetted relies on the law enforcers following laws exactly - and you’ve just said they do not do so, they use laws as excuse.

Mate I’m French, a friend of mine works with the goddamn SACEM, I discussed the laws in a professional setting when it comes to their applications in websites, since, you know, it’s my fucking job (IRL job, not derpi) and I’m the one that’s naive about this issue? You cling to one part of my comment, distorting the meaning to suit your view, while ignoring the significant part: derpi won’t be hit by article 13 as it is.
