The only way to improve it is to feed the griffin pony meat (the second tastiest meat in existence) for a while before it is harvested.

Griffin lands are complicated. There are large safe zones for creatures of the hooved sort, but then there are “hunting grouds” where anything unprotected by another griffin is fair game. Anygriff who gets a pony there is clear for chowing down.
