Changlings~
Date: Novemeber 14th 2017. I think its a Tuesday.
Location: Changling Base in the Badland mountains.
This is Atticus “Whiskey” Blaze combat medic fighting with 45th Queens riflemen… It snowed for the first time this year today it was beautiful. If it wasnt for the fact that we are fighting a war and explosions were going off all around me i probably would have tried to catch some in my mouth.
But….then the blood mixed in with it, instead of being white and beautiful just like when i was a child, it was black and red from blood and fire and mud. Today was my first real taste of combat.
While on patrol out in the badlands, a squad of griffions attacked and nearly killed us all. Out of the 30 of us who left 5 returned….i failed and couldnt save any of them. I tried but failed…and whats worse is….i dont even remember their names or faces. Fuck….i knew war is hell but…this…this is worse.
I also killed osmeone for the first time…..and its…its weird, when you fire that bullet into that person…and they slump down lifeless, its exciting, terrifiying, you want more, you want less, you want to scream in victory, you want to cry in fear.
War is not hell….no…i would rather be there than here. The only reason why i am alove is becuase of the brave boys in the sky of the 99th Flying Swords. Our boys bombed the fuck out of them and by god that was one hell of a light show. We all cheered as the enemy ran in fear. Even i did.
And then…..then i saw the red snow.
