Imago quickly investigates the book.

The master was asleep, and had apparently gotten drunk before doing so.

Imago positioned him so he would feel somewhat comfortable when he woke up. She also placed a bucket and some water near him. A blanket was also put over his body.

It is about this time Piper has a rare interaction with Imago, where she learns of the hideout.

Piper goes to the hideout and takes the pound-and-a-half(or so) gladius.  
Rather than slay him with the sword however, she suffocates the master to make it appear as though he died in his sleep.
