So I’ll keep getting them DRM the ususal way; Grab a copy off of Youtube before it gets taken down. :V
I was about to mention how Amazon actually offered these vids for purchase in a way that let you download them without DRM… Then I checked, and realized they no longer do that. :( Do any major companies even try to distribute DRM-free videos anymore? Or is that a music-only thing now-a-days?
I don’t buy any %$#& thing from iTunes if I can possibly help it; Microsoft is a spyware-pimpin’ den of ducks too, but at least they’re not smug about it.
I’d use iTunes to watch it if I could just have ads play instead of forking over cash.
But my ability to tolerate Apple malware goes about as far as possibly being willing to install their player if I have to but otherwise fuck that.
The lack of DiscoFamily streams almost certainly has more to do with the iTunes contract, and I’m pretty sure that’s where the majority of Hasbro’s broadcast scratch comes from; they’re having to split ad revenue with DF now already, so there’s not much incentive for them to draw up a contract that takes eyes-on-screen away from a solid revenue source that they’re only splitting with Apple– which does a %#$& lot better job of advertising and promotion– and and hands that online viewership to a network they just got divorced from a little while ago.
They could offer their own streams, so they could actually collect revenue from it. But then if they did that they’d have to pursue streamers and try to shut them down because competition.
If you really think about it, it would be in the interest of Discovery Family to not do anything about streams. Streams are the most beneficial way (for them) that people are “pirating” the episodes, since when watching the episodes live from a stream people still have to sit through all the commercials. And if streams would be harder to come by then people would just download the episodes without the commercials instead.
If Discovery Family were to count how many watch streams and add them to the ratings, they could show how many more actually see the ads, and therefore make the ad spaces more valueable.
Tank.
Peewee? :p
wow, which pet in the show set off that firecracker? Opal!?
Keep tryin’, li’l dude.
Honestly I don’t know why you’re still responding to the guy if its the same guy over and over bringing up the same thing.
Well, that answers that question, since there’s only one of you who tries the whole “paranoid” thing.
Dude, anon hate is literally the most pathetic thing on the entire internet. It’s like, you’ve got something shitty to say, but you are so cowardly that you’re terrified of the horrible consequences of… “people knowing who said that shitty thing”, so you have to hide from your own shitty opinions just to say them. It’s sad and it’s pathetic.
Salty and paranoid. You really are texan.
Aw, I wonder which mod you are.
I have to say, it’s still cute the way scrubs occasionally bring this up as if they ever expect me to back off of it. Unlike the anonymous cowards around here, when I take a position on something I sign my username to it, and my point still stands.
Countdown to someone who doesn’t have ☑ Shitpost anonymously showing up and trying to blame me for “starting shit” commencing in 3… 2… 1…
The quality of the posters who post things like this, you mean?
It’s not like most 6-year-olds check Equestria Daily or Deviant Art on a daily basis
given the quality of some of the posters there i believe you are incorrect my friend
Seriously, though, anyone who’s a fan of the show– at any age– is probably interacting with other fans in some way, and there’s no way in heckie that any group of fans even at grade school ain’t a-buzz about this episode. Kids who like the show but missed this episode are prolly gonna wanna see it.

It’s entirely possible Big Jim ain’t concerned about TV ratings because he knows what the iTunes dowloads and paid-content YouTube views are like.
My question is, how many people in the target audience know? It’s not like most 6-year-olds check Equestria Daily or Deviant Art on a daily basis.
MLP continues because of toy sales.
does cable have the Magic Treehouse channel? cause that’s what mlp is on here in Canada. at least on bell satellite of the Magic Treehouse/HD channel. downside is, we are ina 1-3 episode backlog as it were. in other words while episode 19 will air this weekend on discovery family, we’ll be just getting brotherhooves social on Treehouse.
