But that’s inaccurate. Scare Master was planned for before Crusaders, then was pushed back to release closer to Halloween. The reason it leaked was because it was put online based on it’s original intended airdate rather than the revised airdate.
Coming back to this post months later I was confused, but then re-educated by my own comment.
Phew, that was close.
The Scare Master was planned for after Crusaders of the Lost Mark, but was leaked.
In the Crusaders of the Lost Mark the Crusaders finally get their cutie marks.
In the Scare Master their flanks were covered. This meant their cutie marks were not revealed early.

Exactly, that’s the point. If they hadn’t worn a flank-covering costume, they would have had to super-impose the cutie marks onto their flanks, which would have spoiled Crusaders of the Lost Mark.
You never see their bare butts in this episode though. What would the point of adding a cutie mark layer even be?
Because it /wasn’t/ the air order, and when they made the decision to give them their cutie marks, they had to go ahead and super-impose them into all succeeding episodes. Including this one once it was decided it would air after Crusaders of the Lost Mark.

I’m not sure, but I think they might’ve just been talking in regards to the theme song.
No. Wrong about the fact that the CMC Cutie Marks would not be updated until Season 6. Every episode we’ve had since has had the Cutie Marks.
Wrong about what? Production? Because the leaked episode IS episode 15 of the season. It was only delayed to air on Halloween. Doesn’t change that it was originally intended to be episode 15

I kinda like how they give holidays different names in MLP without it feeling like “censorship.” (It makes sense, considering this is Pony World Land, and not earth.)
I also like the fact that, due to them delaying it, it’s going to air the week AFTER a ‘Christmas’ episode.
I liked some of the cute costumes to, (especially Derpy’s) though yeah the ep’ just didn’t do it for me. “Luna Eclipsed” was a much better Halloween episode.
I just found it kinda ‘meh’. Yeah, the anime reference was funny, but that was also the most memorable part, which is a bad sign for an episode.
I actually didn’t really like “Scare Master” a whole lot, no offense. It was an ok episode, but the ending/moral didn’t feel very satisfying to me, and Fluttershy felt a bit flanderized, and overly cowardly in it, kinda undoing some of her character development sense Season 1. I don’t know, just didn’t do it for me.
