As no other students in show, comic or movies has a dragon, and we know both Trixie and Sunset attended the school like Twilight.

Yes, but all the other dragons we have seen on the show have wings. Who knows, maybe there are eastern dragons (discord already has some features) or even wyverns around equestria, but until we see them, we can only guess that Spike really is different. The dragons in “Dragon quest” even mock Spike for being wingless, so it can’t be a normal feature. Even Crackle had wings.

Just an observation: not every dragon has wings. Classically, a dragon like Spike was called a “drake”. An excellent example is Fafnir from the Neibelung.

But a one shot fluff about Celestia not only gaining a student but also finally meeting her son could be fun to write.

And yeah, I have wondered about just what they were doing with the egg in the first place. I like one theory I’ve seen more than one fanfic use - the egg was thought unviable and watching you as you tried to hatch the egg when you thought you could do it was the purpose. (I mean, every student doesn’t get a baby dragon like they’re the toasters you used to get when you opened a bank account. Otherwise, where’s Lyra’s, where’s Moondancer’s, etc?) Twilight gets extra mommy points for having truly, literally given him life.
 
The idea of it being Tia who was waiting for just such a thing, though… that’s a great idea, you should totally write that if you write stuff!
 
(And she’s got even more magic for an ‘it’s magic, don’t question it’ thing. :p )

As for Spike being wingless and having magical fire it is an interesting feature that differentiates him from other dragons, that’s for sure. You can also wonder what a dragon egg was doing in the possession of a pony school. But if you accept that ponies and dragons can crossbreed (as you said, why not when so many other things happen in this crazy world) and that Spike has pony blood in him, you don’t need to discard everything that happened in cutie chronicles.
 
He could be someone else’s offspring. Someone that’s big enough for it not to be so physically impractical to carry and lay his egg. Someone old and strong enough to be chums with dragons. Someone that would have been nearby, wondering if a student would be powerful enough to hatch her egg.

As for the plausibility of Twilight being Spike’s biological mom, this is a world of magic, and one where real-world rules of biology needn’t apply. Obviously, in real life, the idea of a pony laying an egg is crazy. Cartoonish, even. I won’t say a pony laying an egg makes sense.
 
I will, however, say that a pony laying an egg makes about as much sense as a pony zapping an egg with a ray from its horn and making it hatch. Or half the other stuff that happens in this show.
 
(And I’ll say again: We’ve got no hard evidence for the cutie mark story, and a photo showing an older Twilight with Spike hatching in a library. And every dragon but Spike has had wings, and Spike has the magical teleporting flame - two things that being part unicorn would explain.)

Well as far as my own interpretation is concerned she already is a mommy, since she hatched him and has been taking care of him for at least a few years (also she goes full mother hen in Dragon Quest).  
But if you want me to buy that a pony could lay and egg, I will take out my geek glasses and shout how impossible that is. Joke or no joke, I’ll nerd fight you on the subject.
