Because of the “scary/darker” aspects/orgins of it, I suppose… Some don’t realize it’s just a gag, and take it seriously, or think it’s morally “bad” for the children for one reason, or another.

Much like how Fluttershy herself was ignorantly terrified of the holiday. (Maybe that’s why she kinda annoyed me in the episode, and I’ve never really been annoyed by her in the series prior frankly.)

Also, let me add, I’m a christian, so I’m not bashing religious people. I just get annoyed by the fanatical ones that try to say everything is “evil.” (Like Frollo the villain from the Disney version of “Hunchback of Notre Dom.” He was quite an ironic character, trying to look for evil in everything else, but failed to see his own evil.)

Yeah, there are. It got pretty bad back in the late ‘90s especially with some overly-religious types. (And ironically, Christians & churches celebrated Halloween for decades with no issue prior.) It’s calmed down a bit lately, but some still try to say Halloween is “evil,” “isn’t good for kids,” or shouldn’t be celebrated…
Some like I said even use that one “tainted” candy incident to further prove it’s a “bad holiday.”

There was a Season 2 episode of “King of the Hill” that kinda poked fun at the anti-Halloween people, where some crazy lady was trying to ban Halloween, and convince kids it was “Satanic/evil.”
Hank Hill was not amused by her. (Especially, when she was trying to brainwash his son Bobby.)

The story goes basically, some A-hole Dad tried to poison his kid with tainted Halloween candy, but got busted. As a result, it somehow sparked the whole overhyped paranoia over Halloween candy being laced with nasty things, and parents having to check them to make sure they’re safe to eat, and such.

Some anti-Halloween folks even tried to say this is what the whole “trick-or-treat” thing meant misunderstanding it’s meaning…

Also, honestly Fluttershy should be more afraid of Hearth’s Warming candy. :P
