@Cyborg_pony
Now that he mentions it:
“Your” = possessive, “…your grammar…”
“You’re” = “you ’ are” contraction.
“There” = location, “over there,” or comforting, “There, there, Fluttershy, it’ll be okay…”
“They’re” = “they ’ are” contraction.
Apostrophes denote contractions. You’re, They’re, and it’s are all contractions for “you are,” “they are,” and “it is” (or “it was”).
‘s is an extension for possession for words that don’t have an “is” or “was” contraction. “it is” = it’s. But “Don’t unplug its power source”, using “it” for possessive, does not have an apostrophe so that it doesn’t get confused with “it is”. “Rarity is” is not nearly as common, however, so there’s no contraction for it, so “Rarity’s” just denotes possession. “Rarity is a princess. This is Rarity’s dress.”
“Their” = possessive. “It’s their problem, now.” “They own the dress, it’s their dress.”
Every time you confuse these, a little filly somewhere dies.
