I’m really sick of commenters who seem to think that fan art is obligated to match the latest broadcasts.
There are concepts such as “an earlier point in time” or “alternate universe”, you know.
Yeah, I didn’t feel that from him either. (Don’t ask how I can sense intent from users halfway across the Earth. XD )
Except that I’m not exactly a “newer fan”. Despite the fact that I joined the fandom back in 2013, I already knew that there was a time when Twilight didn’t have wings. After all, I did binge-watch the entire series up until MMC.
Definitely a case of “older than they think” - any show that lasts more than about 3 years starts to rapidly accrue new fans who have no idea how earlier installments differ from the now-accepted style and continuity of later episodes.
To wit,
I have talked with Doctor Who fans - mostly children (I’m a Cub Scout leader) though also a few adults - who claim they have watched Doctor Who “since it began”. It’s pretty easy to work out in a lot of cases that they actually mean “since it came back on screen in the Revival series”. However one kid I talked with honestly believed that the new series was the ONLY series, and when I asked him further, he didn’t even have the foggiest idea of who Christopher Eccleston was, thinking the show started in 2006 (not 2005)! What he actually meant was “I’ve watched Doctor Who ever since David Tennant was the star”.
There’s probably now a new bunch of fans who believe that Dr Who first began with Matt Smith in the lead role. (a bit early I think for anyone to believe that Peter Capaldi is the first star of the show…but give it about another 2-3 years…)
And pie.
My God…never thought I would see the day of people asking where Twilight’s wings are. I guess that’s a pretty positive development, maybe? Personally I never had a problem with either unicorn or alicorn Twilight.
Twilight existed before Season 4, you know.
