Some of that was supposed to be her hair, but the colorist messed it up according to the artist.
“yes, I decided to wear my arm as a scarf, while intersecting it with the shoulder of my other arm”
I adore Jay Fosgitt’s Celestia. She’s slinkier and rubberier than Discord. She’s like Lady Rainicorn!
oh yeah, the third pony looks like an incredible mess of missmatched body parts.
Oh, I can see that, though there’s still some oddness with the pose (where’s the decorative “shoe” on her top hoof? why does her middle leg seem so thin? why is she sitting so much like a human?). What I’m really wondering about, though, are her neck and lower jaw, and to a lesser extent her wings. I suspect a rushed/sloppy inking and/or coloring job is at least mostly responsible for the former (note that the last pony carrying the sandwich has had one of his/her legs colored as though it were part of his/her coat).
And I do want to mention I generally like Jay Fosgitt’s art, despite his tendency to use human-like poses for the ponies a bit too often and make some choices with the setting or other details at odds with what’s in the show; still, some of his Celestia drawings for this issue are really wonky.
Ponies sit pretty much sit like humans all the time (even barring Lyra), though. The only difference between that pose and this pose is art style and front hoof position:
Even though that’s hard to see, keep in mind Celestia is a pony/horse.
Feels more like human in an odd Celestia suit.
Put your right hand over your foreleg at a 90 degree angle to your chest, with your wrist directly above the middle.
Put your left hand on top of your right wrist.
It looks strange from this perspective, but it’s a completely doable and normal pose.
“DO I?”
