There are two kinds of content on that tag: there is a pony somewhere in the picture or there is nothing related, period.
 
On the first category, you can easily recognize it by simply looking at the the image that, in fact, there are ponies or Equestria involved, which should be a logical requirement for it to stay. I mean, suppose I post a picture of a furry brown dog. Unless I can look at the pic and know it has something to do with MLP by just looking at it (artstyle, characters, world references, the fact it is a darn pony, whatever) it becomes kind of hard to justify it actually being MLP. Cteno fails that because you won’t find anything clearly evident to link it to ponies (again, as far as Slugbox tumblr’s are concerned, the pony phase never occurred) and nothing but hearsay will make people click the connection. Try it, ask someone who doesn’t know Cteno if it looks like it is related to FiM and you will find invariably “no”s.
 
That said, some of those, even with something connecting them directly, should be deleted, but that’s less of a fact the deserve to be here, and more to do with the fact they still haven’t gotten deleted for god knows why.
 
Second group has pictures which have no discernible way of making the connection (no words, no actual ponies, no mention of ponies, nothing) and invariably only remain because who the fuck knows? as they are clearly troll attempts and should have been deleted ages ago. The only picture which holds nothing which a normal person who watches the show would be able to recognize without having more information is a picture of Tara Strong and “Alice cooper?” which can remain because it’s the bloody people from the show.
 
In fact, of all of those, only about eight really deserve to belond, and about ten of those impress me because they can’t possibly remain under any rationality (specially the ones called troll attempts…).

If you search the “barely pony related” tag you’ll see there is already a precedent for this kind of content.

Both of those contain more or less my arguments as to why I think this distinction makes no sense, but until I get someone to answer the questions I raised there, and someone to tell me when this “other content” poll and where was it announced, I can only ask you follow this.

I personally find the argument that she started as a pony silly. It’s like saying that if I made a pony today which was a robot, then made into a normal humanoid robot with a bird’s face I could keep posting it here because, well, it was first a pony and nothing else afterwards ever matters. I am sorry, but that’s just stupid in more ways I can fully explain.
 
Personally, it’s just a matter of consistency and logic for me. I have spend here god knows how long, and I don’t remember this poll ever happening, unless you are talking about fluffy ponies which, by definition, are bloody ponies and are effectively part of a pseudo-FIM world as convention. This one isn’t, there is nothing to connect Cteno to anything FiM related but nostalgia and stubbornness.
 
You like Cteno? She has a clearly non-pony tumblr which you can follow, a tumblr which I will remind everyone has been purged of all pony elements at the decision of the creator of the thing to begin with. This isn’t like we stopped it from being a pony, Slugbox did it all on his own.

Here’s how: tag it. Go back and tag it to your heart’s content. Then people will simply catch on when they see new images.
 
The other content needed to be dealt with by admins due to its large amount and how many people very vocally disliked it. This, you get maybe one “monster Cteno” image a week, and the vast majority of people don’t give a damn.
 
We aren’t going to introduce a new obligatory tag over a small subset of less than 60 images.

@TPS Well then, we have a problem here.  
The “other content” has its proper tag and can be easily filtered. The admins ruled that all the “other content” must have that tag.
 
The word “pony” doesn’t make the “other content” pony related? Well, it’s actually the content of the “other content” that makes it pony related… in a quite stretched way, I admit.
 
But even if you insist on the contrary, from the user side the two things are not the same, because the user can easily hide the “other content” from the rest, but can’t hide the monster Cteno leaving the pony Cteno on the board.
 
And it’s up to the admins to keep the order in the booru, and that includes moderating the tag changes, and deciding how to tag stuff. That’s what you did so far, by the way.
 
So, it’s just a simple question: how can I hide the monster Cteno?

Someone can just make that tag, you don’t admins for that.
 
As for the “other content”, just adding “pony” to its name doesn’t make it so. It had its origins in the fandom just like Cteno, and is now as related to ponies as Cteno. I guess with the exception that Cteno is still liked and drawn by talented fandom artists, while the “other content” is losing what few actual artists it had by the day.

There could be people that want to see pony Cteno because, duh, it’s a pony related booru.  
But not the monster Cteno because, duh, it’s not a pony.
 
And currently there’s no tag to tell those apart.

@TSP There’s no need to get overheated about this. The “some other content” you’re referring to is always denoted as “ponies”.
 
Cteno isn’t a pony anymore, it’s as simple as that. Slugbox himself stated that. I think his decision should be considered as that.
 
So, Cteno is less relevant to ponies than the “some other content”. I’d say it’s as relevant as a picture of Godzilla.

The problem isn’t Cteno or Slugbox, the problem would be considering this “not pony related” while keeping “other content” that holds about as much or less connection to ponies as this.
 
As we already held a poll about that and people wanted it to stay, then so will this.

srsly this guy made like 1 perverted art book with humanized ponies and few picture with ponies and suddenly he have mass of white knights that will defend everything that is related with him even if he shits and vomit on MLP

Do not contest me on this. Cteno is as relevant to this board as “some other content”, and if people want that to stay, then so does this.

A decision dosen’t need to be made. It’s ficken common sense. Pony CTeno obiously stay because pony, but Cteno as monster isn’t pony, so goes.
